University IT security professionals have received alerts concerning a phishing attempt from an attacker claiming to be the "LSU Site Administrator". The message states that your account is going to be deleted. The message ask you to verify and confirm your account so it will not be deleted. This e-mail is a fraudulent message. Please delete the message.
Please be on the alert for these types of e-mails and do not click on links contained in emails without closely scrutinizing whom the e-mail came from and the content of the message. Sender names and addresses (even @lsu.edu) may be forged. If in doubt, seek assistance from your departmental IT support person or the ITS Help Desk. Please remember to NEVER give your account passwords (PAWS, email, etc...) to anyone. In addition, ITS will NEVER ask anyone for their PAWS password or other personally identifiable information (e.g. SSN, LSUID) in an email or web form.
