University IT security professionals have received several alerts concerning a phishing attempt from an attacker claiming to be "Louisiana State University ITS." The phishing message states that ITS administrators are "currently upgrading our data base and e-mail account center," and "We are deleting all unused accounts to create more space for new accounts." The e-mail then asks for UserID and Password information. DO NOT reply to the phishing e-mail. Never give your account passwords (PAWS, e-mails, etc...) to anyone. ITS will never ask anyone for his PAWS password.
