Overview: Microsoft Security Bulletin Summary for February 2009 contains four security bulletins. Two bulletins address “critical” vulnerabilities in Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Exchange Server. The other two bulletins address “important” vulnerabilities in Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Office. A restart is required for the Microsoft Internet Explorer update. Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/tools/mbsa2_1/default.mspx) can be used to detect what computers are missing security updates.
Solution: Microsoft has released security updates for the vulnerabilities, and the updates are available for download at the Microsoft Update website (https://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/). Please note that systems joined to the LSU Active Directory automatically receive the appropriate updates when available. Remember to close all applications at the end of work day today, as security updates may require a restart of your machine.
