The telephones of the LSU Baton Rouge Campus are supported by two state-of-the-art Avaya S8800 Media Servers. These new servers provide a secure, scalable, cost-effective, reliable and flexible telephony
solution. These servers are separated and fully duplicated (real-time) for critical reliability. One is housed in the Frey Computing Services Center and the other in David Boyd Hall. They are connected via TCP/IP
as well as fiber optic cable. The system supports traditional analog and digital telephone desk sets as well as voice over IP (VoIP) sets.
The Avaya S8800 utilizes Communication Manager, Avaya's most advanced telephony software, to deliver proven reliability, efficient call processing and hundreds of cutting edge telephony features, such as powerful mobility applications that afford the LSU community the ability to stay in touch no matter where they are located. Enhanced call center features offer great flexibility in providing exceptional customer service.
